About Us

HT GIFA (Hindustan Times Great Indian Football Action) is India's biggest neighbourhood football tournament for kids. HT GIFA is open to kids from class 5th-8th in the Junior category and 9th-12th in the Senior category. HT GIFA was started in the year 2014 in Gurgaon as an effort on part of Hindustan Times to bring the community together and promote grassroots football. It was the first neighbourhood football tournament with the idea that kids and families should get outdoors and have a chance to connect with people in their area through sports.

Due to an overwhelming response, HT GIFA was taken to Gurgaon and South Delhi in its second season. Parents, neighbours and friends, all gathered on the ground and took to social media to support and cheer the kids as they played for their society or school. Season 3 saw HT GIFA expand to the whole of Delhi NCR with participation of teams from all over Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

The recently concluded Season 4 of HT GIFA was bigger and better than ever before and broke all past records with participation from 2500 teams. Also introduced this season was a special league for All-Girls team in the tournament. The pre-qualifier matches and training sessions drew large crowds of players and families to celebrate the spirit of sports. The feature of wild card entries proved very popular and over 1.96 lakh votes were received to give teams a second chance to enter the main tournament. Over 650 matches were played between teams and 1727 goals scored in the tournament. The league matches were held over 2 weeks with 350 teams battling it out for the coveted title for HT GIFA Champions.

HT GIFA is back with Season 5!
